Are You Pretty Ordinary?

By Carole and Ivan Eyre ~ Your New Future Starts Here

We’re sorry if you feel our opening question is a little rude – it’s certainly not meant to offend!  Perhaps we should explain why we ask it.

Just a few short months ago, we recorded a New Year video during which we looked back over the year just past and forward to the year to come.  Ivan recounted that we had met some remarkable people during that 12 months – but just lately, we’ve come to realise we were completely wrong!

We actually met some completely ordinary people!  Don’t get us wrong – they still amazed us, but we now realise they were very ordinary people just like you and us.

It just happens that they’re ordinary people who have done some extraordinary things.

The more we thought about this concept, the more we began to realise the fact that these people are ordinary makes what they have achieved even more remarkable.  Why is that?

Well, it all comes down to expectations.  If someone were extraordinary, it would come as no surprise if they did extraordinary things.  Likewise, we’d expect ordinary people to do ordinary things.

But when ordinary people do extraordinary things – that’s when magic really happens!

The people we listed in our video were all very different – they came from different backgrounds, had different career paths, different experiences, different goals, different achievements – you name it, it was different for each of them.

They did, however, all share one common quality.  What was that?  They had made a decision.  They had made a decision to achieve something extraordinary and had seen it through until they achieved it.  Yes, it took hard work, perseverance and, most often, the learning of new skills – but it all started with a decision.

So, if you think you’re pretty ordinary, rejoice in that fact!  Because it means you have exactly what all these people have who do the most incredible, wonderful and extraordinary things every day.

And what is that you have?  You have the ability to decide to do something incredible, wonderful and extraordinary yourself.  And that’s all you have to do – decide!

Once you’ve made that decision, the rest is just logistics.

So, what we’d ask you to do today is to think back to something you have done that amazed you.  It doesn’t matter if it was in your business, personal or private life – there will be something you can remember that you did that amazed you.

Now, remember how you felt when you did that amazing thing and hold on to that feeling.  Now, commit to having that feeling again and again and again on a regular basis – you’ve done it once so you know you can do it again!

Leave us a message in the comment box below telling us about the amazing things you have done and the amazing things you’ve decided to do in the future – we look forward to hearing from you and to cheering you on to your own extraordinary success.

Carole and Ivan’s Mini Bio:

Carole and Ivan had spent around thirty years of their working lives pursuing typical career paths, when a series of events led them to realise there must be more to life than that and so they, decided to see if there was.  The answer was a resounding yes!

There’s no need to run away and join the circus or take off with some religious cult.  Anyone can improve their lives enormously just by making small changes – Ivan and Carole describe it as turning baby steps into giant leaps.

They now spend their lives showing others they can have the life they want if they just make the decision to go out and get it.

How we know each Jaki

Like Jaki, we are students of The Social Networking Academy. We became aware of the excellent work Jaki is doing during a webinar with Jo Barnes.  We were so taken with the sheer simplicity of Jaki’s powerful idea of establishing If Everyone Cares, we felt we just had to support her – we just weren’t sure how!  Jaki presented us with the ideal opportunity to do that in a very small way when we were able to vote for a guest blog post she submitted to the site of one of our favourite teachers, Brian Tracy and were delighted when it was voted the most popular of all the guest posts.  We’re looking forward to other opportunities to support If Everyone Cares and Jaki in the future.

A Message from Jaki ~ Thank you Carole and Ivan

I just love this blog post – Thank you. I had been saying a little prayer – asking which blog would be the best one to start the month with, my prayer was answered. What a wonderful way to start the Guest Blogger Month. Remember that amazing sentence ~

You have the ability to decide to do something incredible, wonderful and extraordinary yourself.

And that’s all you have to do – decide!

Please visit Carole and Ivan’s Facebook page and show them some love! Carole produces some wonderful mini-videos with inspirational quotes and Ivan produces great videos all full of gems of motivation, inspiration and clarity.

Simple Positive Steps You Can Take Now ~

In Gratitude

Jaki :)

  • Thanks for sharing this post – it has given me a lift – as I am an ordinary person with some major extraordinary dreams which I am aiming for – Thank you as it has given me renewed energy to push on with my work online. Thank you !

  • A truly Special post written by two Special people. In Carole and Ivan’s own words, two ordinary people who are doing ‘extra’ordinary work, showing their love and committment in helping make the world a better place, just as Jaki is doing. If Everyone Cares as much as these people and the rest of the people of the Social Networking Academy, then we will truly live in a wonderful world … Cathie :)

  • Lovely post. And such a beautiful reminder that there is extraordinariness in being ordinary. For the longest time I felt that I had to be more than me to be successful. And then I started to see just how being me was the very best way to be a success (that and, as you say, a lot of hard work, diligence and discipline – which is all way more fun when I’m just being ordinary).

    Thank you Carol and Ivan.
