Three Ways to Be Zen and Creative to Improve Daily Productivity
By ~ Nathalie Villeneuve
For the past few months, I have been paying attention to how I breathe, how I think, talk and how to find ways to not only bring some Zen in my life, but also inspire other women share what makes them stressed and overwhelmed. I must say, after having many discussions with women about their Zen habits there are many similarities to what we need to implement everyday in order to have healthy work habits and be more Zen.
Discover What Makes You Feel Zen and Happy
My friend Kim Nesbit and I started fun weekly get together webinars where we mainly discuss with other women, the things that bring stress and ways to avoid them. We talk about bringing back some Zen into our daily activities. I think the first step we must take in order to live happier and more Zen lives is to identify what makes us happy. For example, spend more time with your family, exercise, paint, writing, reading, taking long walks. These are all things of importance and more importantly, they are all things that make me happy.
Keep Your New Zen Garden Clear Of the Non-Essential
Once you determine what really makes you happy, your new task is to find more time in your day to replace the non-essential activities, which often eat up precious minutes and even hours of our precious time with the things you love to do. Just think about it. It’s important to dig deep here and be honest with yourself. You have to come to realize that often, non –essential habits or distractions are things you might enjoy a lot. The best example I could give you is spending too much time on social media sites. You might be convincing yourself that you are “working” and “engaging” with friends and prospects when really, you know and I know that we can literally lose track of our precious time there. Use with caution…LOL
A Zen Way to De- Clutter Your Mind
The best way to de-clutter your mind and your work habits is by talking baby steps. The problem with that is we all want things to go faster! There are no shortcuts… I tried! You did not accumulate all your mind clutter in one day so give yourself the time you need to change those habits. You will want to acquire the necessary Zen habits one-step at a time. Take a short walk around the block but start walking, start taking the time to focus on breathing more deeply but be conscious of it and set time aside for meditation. Take the time to go to the art store and buy a small canvas and some paints then start a painting… It is not enough to know what makes you happy… you must take daily actions towards it.
Living Zen is Living Happy Now!
