Time and Organisation
This last couple of weeks have not quite flowed as I had planned. I often try to be a perfectionist and that can lead to my downfall. Then there was the birth of My Granddaughter, Mia Rose – she is definitely a beautiful distraction!
There just aren’t enough hours in the day and then there is the nightmare of the ‘Email Tiger’, I call it that as I once read a book called ‘Taming the Email Tiger’ (By Roice Krueger, Mark Victor Hansen and James Skinner, it can be found @ YouPublish.com). The “Email Tiger’ is quite literally my email inbox – every day there are over 100 messages in my inbox. They are from individuals with questions, friendship requests from Facebook, newsletters that I have signed up to, family and more … …
My weakness is in seeing new interesting information – I like to check it out, just in case it can help me with my journey and give me a new perspective. One thing leads to another, and another, and another and time slips through my fingers. I have days when I get distracted 100 times a day and before I know it the morning is gone, I still haven’t done the original task and it is time for lunch and then … … …
Let me side track for a moment … … …
I am only joking and at the same time trying to make a point. Getting side tracked is one of my greatest weaknesses! So far since I started writing this post I have been sidetracked by trying to find images to insert in it, then wondering how do I resize them, am I able to text wrap in this blog program and more (I like things to look right). I have sussed out a way to resize the images – but text wrapping – well I can not find a way in this application and have finally decided to just get on with writing my blog post.
However – I also have my days when I am incredibly organised. I am up early, do some exercise or go to the gym, have a protein shake and vitamins, shower and then focus on my tasks, I carve out time in my day to be present and study, I read or listen to audio books, I make sure I have 5-6 small meals, regular breaks and drinks (keeping well hydrated is one of the best things for having a clear and focused mind).
So if I can do that on some days – why not on others. I wish I could find the answer to this – actually – I already know the answer, I am just not disciplined enough yet to do it on a daily basis yet! I wonder if you have ever experienced the same thing.
Now I haven’t really put any useful content in this blog yet, have I?
So I am Going to ShareSome of the things that work for me
- I have a three month planner that lists five areas in my life that I want to work on. Under each of those areas I write five things that I am going to do that will help me to achieve those goals.
- I have a monthly planner sheet – make notes of things to do and also of things I have done – it creates positive associations.
- When I wake up in the morning – I smile and say Thank you for all that I am going to achieve in the day ahead.
- I ensure that the first hour of my day is structured, with exercise, a meal, a shower etc. That in turn leaves my mind feeling clear and internally I am on a positive high, as I am proud of myself for being organised.
- I go to my email inbox and I am the ‘Tiger’. I skim through it and hit the delete button ruthlessly. I respond to family straight away. I personally answer emails from ‘New Friends’. Put aside the facebook friendship requests until later in the day. It takes about an hour – then I leave my inbox until the next day – unless I have five minutes to use the delete button!
- I have a cup of Peppermint tea (with honey!)
- I have audio programmes playing in the background while I am completing certain tasks. They are audio books, recorded seminars, Inspirational speakers.
- I have those same audio recordings playing subtly in the background as I sleep.
- I eat 5-6 small balanced meals and always have fresh water by my side.
These are just a few of the things I do.
On the days that I take positive action I go to sleep at night with a massive feeling of achievement and a sense of pride. Where I think I go wrong is that I do all or nothing! That may sound strange – What I am learning from paying more attention to my own actions or non-actions is that I still haven’t quite learned how to create a routine that enables me to do a bit of everything.
I am starting to ramble on – and earlier today I got distracted again – and lost most of what I had written – so this time I am going to say
bye for now and wish you a wonderful day.
So With Love and Light ~ Gratitude and Faith I wish you all that is good.
